KANSANS CAN: CIVIC ENGAGEMENT

Join Don Gifford, KSDE History, Government and Social Studies Educational Program Consultant, in learning more about this state outcome for successful graduates of Kansas Schools.  Don will be sharing:

  • The definition of Civic Engagement
  • Current state initiatives related to Civic Engagement
  • Effective practices for Civic Engagement

The day will be organized with Don providing some background and ideas related to Civic Engagement and then time for participants to evaluate current practices in their school or district that provide students with opportunities to be civically engaged. Participants will also determine ways to strengthen student civic engagement to ensure students have a more systematic experience as they progress from PreK–12.

This day is well suited for building/district leadership teams to work on next steps related to Civic Engagement as part of KESA (Kansas’ new Accreditation system) or for entire building/district staffs to learn more about Civic Engagement.

Cost: $65 per person for Charter member districts and Associate member districts ($80 for Non-member districts) Includes the cost of lunch!
Discount for groups of 10 or more at $45 per person/ $60 non-member.
