Volume Purchasing

Saving Organizations Money Through Negotiated Pricing

SHESC offers a variety of volume purchasing options to help school districts and other organizations stretch their purchasing funds.

The Smoky Hill Volume Purchasing program saves school districts and other organizations money!

The program is free to SHESC members. For districts and organizations that are not SHESC members there is a 2% administrative fee for purchases made during each quarter (quarterly purchase total X 2%=administrative fee). SHESC invoices for this fee at the end of each quarter.

For more information, email Adam Pracht at vp@smokyhill.org or call 785-825-9185.

NOTICE: COVID-19 has disrupted supply chains across the globe and in the United States, including many items available from SHESC volume purchasing suppliers that are related to the prevention of COVID-19 and custodial supply.

BREAKING UPDATE: While supplies last, the volume purchasing program can supply orders of KN95 respirator masks - imported China-certified protective masks that are the performance equivalent of N95 masks, which are experiencing unprecedented demand. Visit go.smokyhill.org/KN95 for more information and to download the order form for the masks.

The spread of the COVID-19 virus in the United States and globally has disrupted production and delivery of products, including many items provided through the SHESC Volume Purchasing program.

We remain committed to delivering orders in the most timely way possible, especially products directly related to fighting COVID-19.

Some shortages, items out of stock, and delays will be inevitable, however, and we will communicate those issues to you as we become aware of them as soon as possible.

This is the latest we know from suppliers working with SHESC, as of the week of March 30:

-Liberty Hardwoods (lumber): No current problems in lumber and plywood supply.
Scott Electric (light bulbs): Lamps available and ready to ship.
-Voss Lighting (light bulbs): Stock is good. A few particular products may have a delay in delivery. In that case, they will communicate that to the orderer.
-Southwest Plus (custodial supply, cafeteria supply): Hand sanitizer, disinfectants (including wipes) and protective gloves are in very short supply. Currently cannot give a good estimate when hand sanitizer will be available again. It and disinfectants are being sent to health care customers first per national mandate. Hoping to be back to more normal operations by June.
-Ecolab (cafeteria supply, custodial supply): Challenges and shortages with filling current and outstanding orders related to COVID-19 (including hand sanitizers, soaps, sanitizers, disinfectants, and dispensers for all of these items). They have ramped up production and are estimating in-stock dates between late April and early June, although a clear ETA is uncertain. In the meantime, Ecolab requests ordering levels in line with regular use. No returns are currently allowed on COVID-19 related items. Items unrelated to COVID-19 are in stock and shipping without delays.

F&A Foods (food, cafeteria supply, custodial supply): "In good shape on most items."
-The Filter Shop (furnace filters): Open and delivering products. HEPA filters available for systems designed for their usage. They also have Merv filters, which most commercial locations can use. By contacting Josh Brandl at The Filter Shop directly at 402-597-1988 or 402-917-0390, interested institutions can also receive a quote on UV systems, which can help fight many known viruses. They do not manufacture protective masks and do not plan to.
-School Specialty (office supplies... also some custodial, paper, and personal protective equipment): All hand sanitizer, disinfectants, disinfectant wipes, and toilet paper currently out of stock in School Specialty warehouses. Expect temporary delays on certain items. However, if there are urgent needs, contact Smoky Hill ESC with the request. School Specialty representatives can "work the problem" from their sub-contracting suppliers for many items, possibly with some delay. They have been able to obtain some amount of CDC-approved supplies. Customer care and sales representative are still available, but are working from home. Faster service may be obtained by using the "Chat" option at the top of the page at www.schoolspecialty.com

The situation is changing and dynamic, so please contact Adam Pracht, volume purchasing coordinator, at vp@smokyhill.org or 785-825-9185 if you have questions about delivery or any other issues. You may also contact vendors directly with the information listed from the link at the bottom of this email.

Also, as many school buildings and district offices are closed through the end of the academic year, please be sure to communicate with vendors after you place an order to coordinate and ensure someone will be available to accept the delivery.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
