Virtual Reality from Twotrees

A certain book series about a magic school bus promised to transport kids to any time, any place, even any size. 

With modern virtual reality systems from Twotrees Technologies in Wichita, that kind of mind-expanding experience is possible - only in a far more engaging and realistic way. 

Thanks to an agreement with Twotrees, Smoky Hill Education Service Center can now offer virtual reality products, including discount pricing and bundles focused on educational purposes. The packages available include everything from Google Expeditions Pack options - featuring the Homido handheld VR viewer - all the way up through the top-of-the-line HP Z VR Backpack G2, for the most immersive experience possible. 

Through various free and inexpensive virtual reality programs, students can:

  • Explore the inside of a beating human heart
  • Visit global landmarks in 360 degrees at a click
  • Walk on the moon and beyond! 
  • Create and share 3D virtual art
  • Practice for drivers education (with no risk to street signs and telephone poles!)
  • Learn about chemistry by manipulating simulated subatomic particles
  • Discover history in-person (Hindenburg VR, Chernobyl VR Project) and develop empathy through the humanities (Becoming Homeless: A Human Experience)
  • And much, much more!

SHESC is also working toward owning an HP Z VR Backpack G2 system to help serve districts that are not yet able to afford a VR unit or units. The backpack system will be used - under SHESC staff supervision - to help with professional development on VR systems, to demonstrate the possibilities of the system to interested districts, and to host special educational events for students using VR. 

This $5,000 goal is the fundraising focus for the upcoming "Match Madness" event on March 19, 2020 - which will match online and in-person donations during that day - as well as ongoing grant application efforts. To learn how you can support this effort, visit www.matchmadnessgscf.org/SHESC.
