'Scramble for Schools' Golf Tournament Offers Awesome Door Prizes

The 25th Annual Smoky Hill Education Foundation "Scramble for Schools" Golf Tournament is one of the largest tournaments in Salina and supports the education of more than 31,000 area students - there's plenty of reasons to join us and play on May 31!

Plus, we have some great door prizes that were generously donated by area businesses and organizations!

You may walk away with one of the following after the tournament on Tuesday, May 31 (all pictured here):

  • A football and tee set, one of two heavy-duty flashlights, or a high-quality pocket knife.
  • One of more than 50 gift cards, coupons, or certificates.
  • Signed 8x10 photos from some baseball legends: Tom "Flash" Gordon, Jeff Montgomery, George Brett, or Cal Ripken, Jr.!

There will also be prizes awarded at the conclusion of the tournament for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Championship Flights; as well as Closest to the Pin, Longest Drive, Longest Putt, and more!

As Safari Edventure Wraps Up for Students, Preparation Starts for Teacher Safari

Last week was great as we brought in students from all over Kansas for "Safari Edventure" at the Rolling Hills Zoo just outside of Salina!

This event - designed for K-6th grade students - lets them visit the zoo and experience hands-on workshop stations focused on science, animal conservation, environmental conservation, environmental issues, social studies, culture, and more!

Sessions are continuing this week through Friday, and we're looking forward to welcoming even more curious kids to explore and discover.

There's still time for teachers to register for a professional development experience at Rolling Hills: "Teacher Safari 2022: What's Right About Writing!" on July 20 and 21!

This year the annual workshop will focus on improving writing across classroom curricula, with thought-provoking, standards-based, and teacher-guided writing ideas that don't lose sight of student voice and choice.
